What is My Biome?
Our biome are deserts. Deserts recieve very little precipitiation, meaning it recieves very little rain. In many deserts, there is a lot of sunshine and no rain, so it is very hot. Most deserts are covered in sand. Since there is so much sunshine, and no clouds, the sun makes the sand very hot. But there are also cold deserts, also known as polar deserts. Antartica has the largest polar desert. The largest hot desert, is the Sahara desert. Since there is very little rain, so there is no humidity. It is very very dry. There isn't much biodiversity in deserts. Not many animals like it very hot and dry. There are very few plants at the desert too. Most plants would die there.

A Real World Example of My Biome

A real world example of a desert, is the Sahara Desert. It is the world's largest hot desert. It covers most of Northern Africa. It is over 9,000,000 square kilometers, it is almost as big as the U.S. and Europe.

What you should find if you walked through a desert

If you are walking through a desert you'll mostly find sand, lots and lots of sand. But you may occasionally find a cactus or maybe some scorpians. You might find humans traveling through the desert with some camels. Camels are great for deserts because they don't tire easily and don't need so much water. If you go the the right spots, you may even find a pyramid!
What do you think is the most common thing to find at a desert besides sand?
Two Kinds of Plants That Are Common or Unique in Deserts

A common plant in the deserts are the dogbanes.
These plants are poisonous. Dogbane is also called Indian hemp, amyroot, bitter-root, rheumatism weed, wild cotton and General Marion's Weed, in honor of General Francis Marion, an American Revolutionary commander known as the "Swamp Fox" for his tactics for harassing British troops, then retreating into the Carolina swamps and forests.

Another common plant in the desserts is the Datura it is also poisonous. This stout, branched, sprawling perennial has long, gray-green, ovate leaves up to 6 inches long, which are covered by tiny smooth hairs. It may grow up to 2 feet high.

Two Animals That Are Common or Unique in Deserts

This little rodent is called the kangaroo rat. It has the ability to convert the dry seeds they eat into water, and they neither sweat nor pant like other animals to keep cool. They spend their days in their burrows where the air is moist and humid. Kangaroo rats seem to have two major periods of activity: one around 9 pm and the other about 3 am when there is the most moisture in the air!
This is the Echidna (Spiny Anteater). The Echidna has a pointy snout and an extremely long sticky tongue used to catch ants and termites. They make a sniffing noise as they search for food! Because they have no teeth the Echidna crushes the insects between thorny pads in its mouth. What do u think it would be like to be an animal in the desert?
